September, 2009 - Michael will be teaching a weekend workshop in Los Angeles though the Julia Dean Photo Workshops. It will focus on covering the Mexican Independence Day celebrations on Olvera Street in downtown. It will include a seminar, the day of shooting, editing and critiques. Register online here.

July, 2009 - Michael will again be part of The Foundry Photojournalism Workshop program. This year the classes will be held in Manali, India starting July 26th.

July, 2009 - Michael's photos from the Georgia/Russia war will be projected as part of a group show at the photo festival in Arles on July 10. In addition the same show will be on display in the Georgian capital Tblisi in June.

June, 2009 - The Los Angeles Press Club has awarded a first and second place in Best Photo Essay to Michael's stories on burying a loved one in Mexico and the war in Georgia respectively.

May, 2009 - Michael has just published his second book. Dharavi: Mumbai's Hidden Heart is a set of photographs made to the massive slum during two trips in 2006 and 2008.
